The political elements of this world will soon turn on Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion. This action will mark the beginning of the great tribulation. Will this result in a flood of new ones deciding to turn to the worship of Jehovah? No. To the contrary, Revelation chapter 6 shows that at that critical time, people who are not serving Jehovah will seek protection from the political and commercial systems of this world, which are compared to mountains. Since those people will not take a stand in favor of God’s Kingdom, Jehovah will consider them to be opposers. (Luke 11:23; Rev. 6:15-17) Truly, Jehovah’s faithful servants will stand out as different during that desperate time of tribulation. They will still be the only group of people on earth serving Jehovah God and refusing to give their support to “the wild beast.”—Rev. 13:14-17. w22.05 16-17 ¶8-9

The destruction of BTG is NOT the 'beginning' of the GT.  

 

So, the sentence will have to be replaced with something else.  Maybe...the UN becoming a one-world government power is the 'beginning' of the GT.

 

Long-reaching was the word I used.  Far-reaching could work.  It is not just a matter of the one verse (or 2 or 3) in Revelation.  NOTE: Our picture from the Pure Worship book was used as an example in someone else's post.  The original picture showed the Gog-type leaders in a room with a monitor showing Br. Herd's face as they try to gather to destroy us.  In this summer's RC we had the picture showing a similar group with similar monitors gathering in the main assembly hall at the UN.

 

How many pictures or chapters in books or other references need to be adjusted?  Far-reaching effects of just one talk by a GB member outlining 'one' clarification.

I searched the AM transcript for "great tribulation" to see what I could find about when the GT starts: with the destruction of BtG or the UN getting power.

time, please, to Revelation chapter 17, this is one of the chapters
that describes the destruction of false religion, or in other words,

1. The first quote could be taken as a reference to our previous understanding, so I don't count it.

 

2. The second quote is deeper into the talk, so when he refers to the GT starting when false religion is destroyed, it doesn't come across as a reference to our previous understanding, he's explaining the new understanding.

 

3. The third quote is somewhat ambiguous, because it could be read as the "one thought" is the start of the GT, but I think he was emphasizing that some things will take place suddenly and then listing two of those things: the UN getting power, and the start of the GT (when BtG is destroyed). I don't think he was intending to say they were the same sudden event.

 

Conclusion: Unless we get a clarification statement, I think the current belief is still that the GT starts with the destruction of BtG.

That actually makes sense, if you think about it. The destruction of religion is obviously a tribulation, but what tribulation happens just because Nations give their power to the UN? Nothing by itself. Even the cry of P&S isn't a tribulation by itself, it's what happens next that is a tribulation.

Prior to Brother Jackson's talk, which was amazing  BTW. The demise/fall of BBTG was our external sign the GT had started? Right? 

 

Now, while the beginning of the GT will STILL result in her demise, it's not the FIRST external sign indicating the GT. It will be the unusual event of ALL the Kings of the earth relinquishing power to the UN. When we see this, we know Jehovah has taken action, and BBTGs demise is instant after that, within that 'one hour' that the UN finds it's dentures.

 

Now, when the AM thread started, I felt like I was really dumb, everything that posters were allowed to say, to me seemed like it had always been. Even when I was young Mum used to talk about the UN finding it's teeth.  So everything as it is today, is what I thought it was going to be. I was really confused, until last night ... was it Jehovah? Absolutely!

 

I watched the Docu/ drama released after the Daniel drama. And there was a phrase in there by Bro Leonard Myers, that I hadn't picked up before.

Here it is verbatim. I'll give you the time stamp as well. It's in Part 2.

 

"The book of Revelation tells us what will soon happen. The political rulers of the world will give the United Nations unprecedented power and authority. The Apostle Paul said that the nations will declare peace and security, but it won't  prove to be true peace. The nations supporting the UN will attack the institutions of false religion... " (Timestampe 31:34).

 

Now, I see the difference, it's NOT the nations attacking false religion, (our previous thought) it's the UN because they've been given that power. And its not just the nations who support the UN, it's ALL the Kings of the earth. Which will include Muslim and Hindu nations, which will make this move even more astounding.

In previous times we knew the UN would become powerful.  We knew that there would be a statement of Peace & Security and we knew that BTG would be destroyed.  That has not changed.  But our understanding of what God put in their minds and hearts to cause all of this has been refocused on Rev 17:17.  His thought he put in the hearts of his opposition is to promote the UN to World Power status at the 'beginning' of this sequence. 

 

We used to say that you might be confused or miss the P&S call but we would all know the GT had started when BTG was being destroyed.  Now, we will know the ball is rolling when the UN takes all authority and power to rule.  They will initiate the destruction of Babylon but I don't know how soon.  A day, a month, longer?

Rev 17 will already be in the process of fullfillment when BTG is attacked.

 

One 20 minute talk is not enough to give details, It just sets the stage...🧡

Yup makes complete sense. So a sense of peace and security could permeate the political arena. Not, ironically, unlike star trek when they formed a one world government.  This is just a musing.
